Beginning in April 2019, Mastercard products will no longer have a signature panel on the back of their cards. This comes in the wake of the Mastercard’s announcement last year that as of April 2018 Mastercard stopped requiring signatures at checkout for point of sale (POS) credit and debit card purchases. Mastercard indicated that it hopes that eliminating signatures will support the move to more secure technologies, such as advanced authentications, EMVs, and contactless payments, while delivering a simpler checkout experience for merchants and cardholders.
