On April 20, 2021, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the GSEs) made a joint Uniform Loan Application Dataset/Uniform Residential Loan Application (ULAD/URLA) announcement reminding lenders that starting on May 1, 2021, the GSEs’ automatic underwriting systems (AUS) will no longer accept new loans submitted using legacy formats.
In order to accommodate loans started in legacy formats prior to the March 1, 2021, mandatory use date for the redesigned ULAD/URLA, the GSEs announced on February 16, 2021, that they will not return an Out of Scope/Error for Fannie Mae’s Desktop Underwriter® (DU®) or a critical edit for Freddie Mac’s Loan Product Advisor® (LPASM) on new loans submitted in the legacy format until May 1, 2021.
However, new loans submitted using legacy formats of DU® or LPASM on and after May 1, 2021 will NOT be accepted and must be resubmitted using both the redesigned ULAD/URLA and GSEs’ updated AUS.
