On September 6, 2018, the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (CFPB) released its 17th edition of its Supervisory Highlights. This report outlines observations regarding auto loan servicing, credit card account management, debt collection, mortgage servicing, payday lending, and small business lending activities that were generally completed between December 2017 and May 2018. Under the Dodd-Frank and the Consumer Protection Act, the CFPB is authorized to supervise banks and credit unions with more than $10 billion in assets. The information contained in this report is to help financial institutions better understand how the CFPB examines institutions for compliance with the requirements of relevant laws and regulations. The report does not impose any new or different legal requirements.
