In a Press Release on May 3, 2022, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) announced it will be sponsoring another Small Business Lending Survey (SBLS) in June of 2022. The SBLS, administered by the U.S. Census Bureau, will ask approximately 2,000 banks about their small business lending practices and volumes. Selected banks will include all FDIC-insured institutions with assets over $3 billion and a random sample of banks with assets less than $3 billion. All responses will anonymous and reported in aggregate form, with data published in an FDIC report scheduled in 2024.
The FDIC is seeking to better understand the banks’ contributions to small business lending in the U.S. economy and is comprised of four topic areas including:
- Loan Processes, Underwriting, and FinTech Usage.
- Markets and Competition.
- COVID-19, SBA Lending, and Selling of Loans.
- Measurement of Business Lending.
Compliance Systems continues to monitor this release for any impact to our solution.
